The Cultural and Folklore Association of the Lasithi Plateau (ELSOL) founded the Folklore Museum in the village of Agios Georgios, Lasithi.
Recently, its operation has been taken over by the Municipality of the Lasithi Plateau.
The museum is housed in an old house dating back to the early twentieth century, with materials and objects donated by the residents in the early 1980s, when the museum was inaugurated. It is located in the old Primary School, which operated in the early 20th century and hosts a collection related to the politician Eleftherios Venizelos. Additionally, two newer buildings display contemporary materials and objects, an art exhibition, woodcarvings by Vasilis Krasanakis, old books, handicrafts, weapons, and various more modern items.
